As we want to spread and exchange Indonesian culture to our surrounding, we immediately took the opportunity in Europalia Indonesia to introduce angklung. As people may know, UNESCO officially recognized the Indonesian angklung as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2010. (Wikipedia.org). Therefore, UNESCO is encouraging the Indonesian people and the Indonesian government to safeguard, transmit, promote performances and to encourage the craftsmanship of angklung.
We are lucky, one of our member is an angklung teacher. She is actively giving lesson whenever she has the chance. When Europalia asked us to organize a new event in their Festival Centre, we didn’t think twice. Here is some of our memorable angklung workshop in January 2018.
